Media and Production

Course Introduction

Welcome to our 32-Week Media Production Program—a dynamic, hands-on program designed to equip students ages 10 to 18 with foundational and practical skills in photography, videography, graphic design, and sound engineering. Through engaging classroom instruction, real-world assignments, and personal creative projects, students will explore each discipline in depth while learning how to tell powerful stories through visuals and sound. We believe that media can be used to glorify God and capture what He is doing. Our desire is to see every student raised up in the creative arts know Him and make Him known to the world!

Key concepts such as framing, camera movement, lighting for video, and audio capture will be covered. They’ll gain hands-on experience with video editing software like Adobe Premie Pro or DaVinci Resolve, and create projects such as interviews, livestreams and  mini documentaries. By the end of this module, students will have the tools to confidently express stories through the lens of a camera.

They'll be introduced to foundational design principles including layout, typography, color theory, and branding. Using user-friendly platforms like Canva as well as more advanced tools like Adobe Photoshop (as age-appropriate), students will design posters, logos, flyers, and digital graphics for social media. The focus will be on problem-solving, creativity, and building confidence in design decision-making as students produce real-world materials and begin developing their own design portfolios.

Sound Engineering

This module introduces students to the world of audio production, giving them the tools to record, edit, and mix sound for a variety of uses. Whether they’re interested in music, podcasts, or Church Sound, students will gain hands-on experience with microphones, instruments, soundboards, digital audio workstations (DAWs) like Protools or Studio One, and mixing techniques. They'll learn about audio levels, EQ, effects, and multi-track recording while working on practical projects like producing their own podcast or mixing a vocal performance. This is a great opportunity for students to discover the power of sound in storytelling and media creation.
